On this week’s Pickin', we will feature several tracks from the legendary Jimmy Martin. Known as Mr. Good and Country, he began playing bluegrass at an early age working with Bill Monroe’s Band, and later with the Osborne Brothers before forming his own group “The Sunny Mountain Boys.” His biggest hits were in the early sixties and included “Widow Maker” and “Hit Parade of Love.” Pickin' co-producer Harold Smith was a huge fan of Martin’s sound. We’ll also feature some of the more progressive-sounding bands like The Infamous Stringdusters and the Steep Canyon Rangers, who will be a part of the “New Pickin'” which debuts next Friday night at 11 on 89.5. New and Classic Bluegrass on Pickin', Sunday night at 7:00 on 89.5 FM. You can also listen online.
