Pickin' revisits music from the Johnson Mountain Boys who we recently presented an extended feature on. We'll also focus on a few other " DC sound" bands who helped to shape the music in the northern Virginia- Washington DC-Baltimore region. The area became a hotbed of the genre beginning in the '50s when many workers relocated there, bringing their love of the music with them. We'll hear from Del McCoury ( who was known to play many of the Baltimore Honky-Tonks), The Seldom Scene, The Country Gentlemen, and others. It's another solid two hours of bluegrass on Pickin'. Join us Sunday night at 7 on WHRV, or listen on-demand anytime.
