Card Check legislation, also known as the Employee Free Choice Act, is pitting unions and employers against one another. We'll discuss this legislation, which was originally introduced in 2003, but is attracting increased attention in the midst of the economic downturn today on HearSay.

 

Segment B: The Invention of Air

Author Steven Johnson's latest book is The Invention of Air: A Story of Science, Faith, Revolution, and the Birth of America. In it he tells the story of tells the story of scientist and minister Joseph Priestley who discovered oxygen, played a key role in the invention of ecosystem science as well as the founding of the Unitarian Church. It's an interesting look at the overlapping roles of faith, science and politics at the time of our nation's founding.
