THE LOSS OF AN AMERICAN DREAM
Segment A: The foreclosure crisis
Home sales are rising but the median price of a new house has dropped dramatically leaving everyone wondering whether the nation's worst housing slump is coming to an end.  On top of that, foreclosures are on the rise as many buyers relied on subprime mortgages or interest only loans to purchase homes.  On today's HearSay, we'll talk about the state of the real estate market in Hampton Roads and the impact of foreclosures on the entire community.

Segment B: What Price Paradise
Want to find a neighborhood and still be able to pay the bills?  Affordable housing is a critical problem in Hampton Roads and throughout the nation. Many who serve communities are unable to live there due to the lack of affordable housing units and apartments. In this segment, we'll discuss this critical need and why it affects one third of the nation's population. We'll also navigate through what programs are available such as block grants, VHDA and SPARC funds.

CONSUMED
You are what you buy-that's the underlying message of many marketing campaigns.  On today's HearSay, Cathy talks with Dr. Benjamin Barber, noted political scientist and professor of civil society at the University of Maryland, about current consumer culture and why he says it is incompatible with democratic values.  His latest book is "Consumed: How Markets Corrupt Children, Infantilizes Adults, and Swallows Citizens Whole."   We'll also discuss why trends are often taken seriously, even though their popularity and usefulness is sometimes short-lived with Dr. Joel Best, author of "Flavor Of The Month: Why Smart People Fall For Fads."
