FROM THE HEADLINES: Bad Newz for Vick; Freedom for Yacob
We'll take a look at the top stories of the week and open our lines to the voices of Hampton Roads. Arraignment and a bond hearing for NFL Quarterback and Newport News native Michael Vick and three other defendants is set for this week in Richmond, for their alleged participation in a dog fighting ring.  We'll talk about it on today's HearSay with WAVY-TV 10 Sports Director Bruce Rader, Daily Press Sports Editor David Squires, and Dale Bartlett Deputy Manager of the Animal Cruelty and Fighting Campaign, Humane Society of the United StatesWe'll also have reaction to the Ethiopian government's release and pardon of 38 opposition leaders, including former Norfolk State University professor Yacob Hailemariam.

THIS IS MY TOWN
A glance at a list of America's fastest growing "cities" reveals quite a surprise: most are really overgrown suburbs.  Cathy talks with Robert Lang, co-director of the Metropolitan Institute and a professor in the Urban Affairs and Planning graduate program at Virginia Tech.  He is the co-author of the new book, "Boomburgs", which looks at how communities across the nation have swelled to big-city size with few
people really noticing.  That list includes Hampton Roads' own Chesapeake, Virginia.  We'll talk about who is living in these cities, how they are governed, and why their rise calls into question the definition of urban.  Also, Jay Walljasper, author of "The Great Neighborhood Book", joins the conversation to explain how any community can be improved and enlivened - not be government or infusions of cash, but by the
people who live there.

MEA CULPA ~ WHO'S SORRY NOW?
From politicians and celebrities to religious leaders and media figures we've been inundated with prominent public apologies.  On today's HearSay, let's talk about how we make amends.  Join Cathy and her guests: Barbara Kellerman, Research Director of the Center for Public Leadership and
Lecturer in Public Policy at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and Aaron Lazare, professor of psychiatry at University of Massachusetts Medical School.  Lazare is the author of "On Apology" which looks at why some apologies work, why others fail, and why they are so vitally important to individuals, groups, and nations.

PET HEALTH
How are your furry and feathered friends handling the heat?  HearSay’s favorite veterinarian, Dr. Phyllis Neumann, is back to take on your pet dilemmas.  And she's called the Emily Post of pet etiquette.  International pet expert Charlotte Reed is also with us today to share tips from her new book, "The Miss Fido Manners Complete Book of Dog Etiquette: The Definitive Guide to Manners for Pets and Their People".
