Welcome! WHRO and the C.I.I., with funding assistance from the regional No Child Left Behind Ed Tech grant, are proud to announce a new, web-based "Cultural Portal" featuring information on, and links to, hundreds of educational resources from dozens of museums, historic sites, and other cultural institutions across Hampton Roads. The resources have been categorized by Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) and are accessible via this easy-to use web site.
Nearly 400 resources have been identified, organized and categorized and are now available from the following organizations: Chrysler Museum, Moses Myers and Willoughby-Baylor House, Endview Museum, Mariner's Museum, Newsome House, Peninsula Fine Arts Center, Virginia Air and Space Museum, Jamestown Settlement, Yorktown Victory Center, Jefferson Lab, Virginia War Museum, Virginia Marine Science Museum, Virginia Zoo, Virginia Naturally, Virginia Living Museum, Virginia Institute of Marine Science, Jamestown 4-H Educational Center, Children's Museum of Virginia, Shirley Plantation, Lynnhaven House, Lee Hall Mansion, Battleship Wisconsin, Yesterday's Tomorrows Exhibition, Norfolk Botanical Garden, Bay Link, MacArthur Memorial, and Colonial Williamsburg.
Simply click on the appropriate subject above and follow the links to find resources matched to the SOL you're interested in teaching. If, for some reason, there are no resources available for a particular SOL, you might try checking back periodically. Additional resources are being added on a regular basis.
We hope that you find this resource useful. For more information, to make a comment, or to suggest resources for possible inclusion in the Cultural Portal, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
