This workshop will involve selecting a concept, developing a program/project and writing an actual grant application, for which feedback will be provided. The course will define a general problem-solving process that participants will employ in working with the curriculum. Strategies for utilizing the Internet and other technology-based resources in instruction and ethical / managerial issues associated with using PBL and computer technology with students will be explored. Students will learn to employ search techniques to locate information that will assist them in their study and presentation of Project-Based Learning. Participants will employ a variety of methods to prepare and present lessons using the Project-Based Learning approach. This session will show many different ways to use things such as United Streaming, MS Photo Story, MS Movie Maker, WebQuests, Marco Polo, Portaportal, Power Point, Excel, Kidspiration/Inspiration, Kid Pix and several web sites will be included. Samples of student work will be shared. This class is all about making your life easier as you learn to incorporate technology into your curriculum. Discussions of how this can be done in labs, wireless labs, classrooms with a few computers or classrooms with only one computer. Teachers will be given CD's with templates to be used with Word, and Power Point. Teachers will be actively involved from the time the class begins.

Integrating Technology With The SOL's

This session will show many different ways to use things such as United Streaming, MS Photo Story, MS Movie Maker, WebQuests, Marco Polo, Portaportal, Power Point, Excel, Kidspiration/Inspiration, Kid Pix and several web sites will be included. Samples of student work will be shared. This class is all about making your life easier as you learn to incorporate technology into your curriculum. Discussions of how this can be done in labs, wireless labs, classrooms with a few computers or classrooms with only one computer. Teachers will be given CD's with templates to be used with Word, and Power Point. Teachers will be actively involved from the time the class begins.

Teachers are encouraged to bring jump drives to save movies. (this program needs XP ) Teachers will leave with a movie that they have created. Sample movies by students will be shown. The purpose of this course is designed to assist Virginia Educators in exploring and developing expertise with the various aspects of telecommunications tools as well as model the ways in which these tools can be used for personal learning and for integration into the teaching/learning process. This course will focus on six main areas: beginning Windows, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and beginning Internet. 4.5 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and a pass/fail grade will be issued from Old Dominion University upon successfully completing the online course.
Prerequisite: Requires a computer thatÕs connected to the Internet, an email account, a current version of a Web browser, a handful of plug-ins, and the application programs being taught (Microsoft Office is being taught, but you can take the class with almost any database, word processor, or spreadsheet program).

Making Your Website Accessible To Individuals With Disabilities

In this workshop, we will discuss and demonstrate how individuals with disabilities use the Internet. Techniques to eliminate barriers using the guidelines that were set forth in Section 508 of the American Rehabilitation Act and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines will be practiced.
